Taking up the thread The history of Lindauer DORNIER GmbH actually started about 10,000 years ago: Since around this time, human hands have been interlacing warp and weft threads for clothing, utility or functional textiles. Weaving is therefore one of the oldest crafts in human history. Does such an old technology still have a future? You bet! World Wide Weaving Since Peter Dornier, son of the aircraft pioneer Claude Dornier, founded the Lindauer DORNIER GmbH in 1950, our machines have raised fabric production to ever new technical top levels. Today, highly complex rapier and air-jet weaving machines produce not only ties, jeans and jackets, but also parachutes, space suits and turbine blades at top speeds of up to 280 kilometres per hour, which is roughly the speed of a departing aircraft.
