Lodz Film School (PWSFTviT)

Lodz Film School (PWSFTViT: Panstwowa Wyzsza Szkola Filmowa, Telewizyjna i Teatralna im. Leona Schillera w Lodzi) was founded on March 8, 1948 in Lodz, Poland and it is the one of the oldest and best-known institutions of higher education in film, tv and media. From the very beginning PWSFTViT trained actors as well as film directors, cinematographers, producers and has had its Film Production Centre in which students work on their practical assignments and diploma projects. Some of the students turned out outstanding directors and creators of the new film waves called Polish film school: Andrzej Wajda, Andrzej Munk, Janusz Morgenstern, Kazimierz Kutz, and cinema of moral disquiet: Krzysztof Kieslowski, Krzysztof Zanussi, Wojciech Marczewski. The school also turned out the creators of Polish art of cinematography: Jerzy Wojcik, Witold Sobocinski, Mieczyslaw Jahoda, Slawomir Idziak, Pawel Edelman and international film artists: Roman Polanski, Zbigniew Rybczynski, Jerzy Skolimows...
