Lorain County Sheriffs Office

The Lorain County Sheriffs Office is the lead Law Enforcement Agency in Lorain County. By law the Sheriffs Office provides jail services and maintains a secure court system. Our department also transports thousands of prisoners each year to and from state institutions, holding facilities, courts, and handles extraditions from other states. The 24 hour full service correctional facility houses up to 422 male and female inmates. The Lorain County Sheriffs Office also provides law enforcement services which patrol 357 square miles for approximately 60,000 resididents. For faster operations, officers have access to 7 strategically placed sub-stations throughout the county which were constructed by the providing Townships. The officers use these stations to write reports, conduct interviews and conduct investigation follow ups.
