LTKY - Student Union of LUT University

The Student Union of LUT University, shortly LTKY, was founded in 1969, when the University started to provide education. To date there are around 5500 student members in our Student Union. Every university in Finland has a Student Union and every person studying in the university has to be a member of the Student Union. This is set by Finnish univiersity legislation. By virtue of the status of the Student Unions under the public law they are liable to take care of the given assignments. The Student Union is prescribed more precisely in its own byelaws. The purpose of the Student Union is to unite the students and promote their academic and personal well being. The Student Union has representatives in all decision-making bodies of the Lappeenranta University of Technology for instance in University Board, Department Councils, Scientific Councils ect.
