Magnus Chess Academy

Magnus Chess Academy (formerly Silver Knights Chess) is one of the largest chess-teaching organizations in the United States. A little bit about us: In our 16 years of existence we have taught chess to 100,000 children. Nearly 50 of our students have won state or national championships, but our typical student is a regular kid looking to learn a new skill and have fun! We teach chess in Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, and online We have a need-based scholarship program and in a typical year provide more than 500 scholarships to families without the means to pay We were founded in 2006 by Adam Weissbarth, a National Chess Master and former schoolteacher In 2021, we joined the Play Magnus Group, a company founded by Magnus Carlsen, the World Chess Champion! Our students now have the opportunity to challenge and learn directly from Magnus and other famous chessplayers. We employ an office staff of 10-15 and more than 100 teaching staff
