Manufacturing Automation Laboratories (MAL) Inc. was founded in 1996 by Dr. Yusuf Altintas, a professor of Mechanical Engineering and Director of Manufacturing Automation Laboratory at the University of British Columbia. His laboratory disseminates their research algorithms and knowledge to the machining industry worldwide.
