Mawsons Huts Foundation

THE MAWSONS HUTS FOUNDATION IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT CHARITY ESTABLISHED IN 1996 TO CONSERVE THE ORIGINAL HUTS AT THE MAWSONS HUTS HISTORIC SITE AT CAPE DENISON, EAST ANTARCTICA, WHICH WERE USED BY THE AUSTRALASIAN ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION 1911-14, LED BY SIR DOUGLAS MAWSON. Since then, the Foundation has funded and organised 14 major expeditions to the historic site to carry out conservation and maintenance work, which it does in partnership with the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD). To assist with fundraising and helping to promote the AAEs story for present and future generations, the Foundation built and operates the Mawsons Huts Replica Mawson on Hobarts waterfront. Tripadvisor rates it as the no.1 museum in Hobart, and its in the top 25 museums in the South Pacific.
