May & Baker ECFC

May & Baker were a pharmaceutical company who operated in Dagenham for more than three-quarters of a century, employing local people. The company produced compounds for medicine. One of the compounds M&B693 was the saviour of many servicemen, including Winston Churchill. The factory had a proud sporting heritage playing inter departmental sports both in Dagenham and in Europe. The football sections first year in competitive football is listed in the Essex County FA Handbook as 1923. Although the factory had several changes of ownership it kept its links with the local people through sport at the M&B Sports & Social Club our home ground. May & Baker Club have always been one of the leading clubs in Essex and have a long track record of excellence, both in league and cup football.
