McLain Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors

McLain Plumbing started as John McLain Plumbing and Electric in 1956. It was comprised of Mr. John, one helper and a truck. In 1979, with some 40 employees, the decision was made to incorporate the business. The name chosen was McLain Plumbing and Electric Service, Inc. The shareholders and officers were John F. McLain, President; Ronald (Jim) McLain, Vice-President; Irene H. McLain, Secretary; and S. Kent McLain, Treasurer. The company lost Ms. Irene in 2004 and Jim in 2005. These were not only family losses but losses to the company. At the passing of Jim, the company was re-structured, with Jims son Scott becoming a shareholder. It was Mr. Johns desire to have his two grandsons, who were working in the company, to become shareholders. Kendall Sodders and Phillip McLain, Kents son, became shareholders and officers.
