Meals on Wheels began service in 1977 in southern Lake County, Indiana as part of the Visiting Nurse Association. At that time, meals were obtained from hospitals and nursing homes and delivered to individuals in their home. As our program continued to grow, it was necessary to open a central kitchen to prepare meals for our clients. In 1993, we purchased a building in Crown Point .
