London, 1998. Beer is flat brown stuff that blokes drink in pubs. Seven hundred miles away in Munich, a young Brit with beer on the brain gets to grips with the German language so he can study brewing from the masters. This is Alastair Hook, our founder and hes about to enter the holy of holies: the University of Munichs Weihenstephan campus. Fast forward ten years, and Alastairs ready. With a second mortgage on his flat and a little help from a rag-tag crew of mates, he set up Meantime Brewing Company in 1999. By then, most of Londons beer was fizzy yellow stuff. Undeterred, Alastair introduces the thirsty city to proper beer. We call Greenwich in London home we were born here and we still brew here today. Since 99 weve made it our business to change the way people think about beer... were just getting started.
