Mercedes-Benz Toorak

In 1921, after the First World War finished, Ted Worrell founded a business beside the Toorak Hotel, trading under the name of Albury & Worrell. In 1932, the Great Depression forced the virtual closure of the business as it was known. Ted Worrell moved to Carters Avenue to continue servicing local customers cars at a site which was previously a stable with a cobblestone floor. In 1942, Teds son John Worrell joined as an apprentice mechanic. He worked there for his entire working life. The business grew rapidly over the next 20 years, and in 1959 Karl Hagen joined John Worrell as a partner in the business. After 62 successful years in the business, John Worrell and Karl Hagen decided to retire. In 2004, Daimler Chrysler Australia Pacific Pty Ltd purchased the franchise Worrells Pty Ltd.
