The story of MG (Morris Garages) began in 1924 in the UK. The origin of the brands name - Morris Garages - can be traced back to 1921 when motor manufacturer William Morris hired Cecil Kimber. In the years that followed, MGs stunning cars were the ride of choice for many celebrities, including British Prime Ministers and several members of the royal family. MG also has a long and storied history as an iconic British racing brand, having dominated championships the world over. Since then, MG has continued to be a style icon through the years. Established in 2017, MG Motor India is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SAIC Motor Corp. MG inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in September 2017 in Halol, Gujarat. The MG Hector was unveiled in May 2019 and became the first ever internet car of the country.
