Middlesex Cricket

When a group of Middlesex gents came together in the London Tavern in 1864, few couldve predicted what the next 153 years would hold. We now know it all started with a win. Vyell Edward Walker stole the show, leading the newly constituted Middlesex County Cricket Club to a glorious victory over Sussex County on 7 June 1864; with an impressive margin of one innings and 52 runs. By 1877 the club has taken permanent place at Lords - the only team to ever have the honour of calling the Home of Cricket, home. As the years elapsed, 21 championship titles were collected - including two NatWest trophies, a Division Two Championship, the Benson & Hedges Cup, two Gillette Cups and the 2008 Twenty20 Cup. With a long and proud history in the County Championship, Middlesex has developed many of the worlds greatest cricketers including Dennis Comption, Mike Gatting, John Emburey and Andrew Strauss.
