MIFUMI

Established in 1994, MIFUMI is a not-for-profit organization envisioning a world where women and children are free from all forms of oppression and everyone has the opportunity to realize their full potential. Pursuing a mission of strengthening community-based and civil society responses to domestic violence and all other forms of human rights violations, in Uganda MIFUMI is tackling social-cultural issues that perpetuate and condone violence against women and children, including but not limited to bride price violations and polygamy. We do this mainly through advocacy for change in policy and practice and engagement of community-based organizations to combat violence using the CAAV (Community Advocacy Against Violence) model; and using the 3-pronged approach of Protection, Prevention and Provision (3Ps) to help women and their children attain JSEC (Justice, Settlement in Violence free lives, Economic security and Confidence).
