The Ministry of Strategy and Finance of the Republic of Korea was established in March 2008 when the Ministry of Finance and Economy and the Ministry of Planning and Budget were merged to ensure the nations strong economic development and developing the engines of growth through concerted efforts of its bureaus and offices to ensure stable and sound macroeconomic management, effective policy coordination, efficient allocation of national resources, sound fiscal management, reform of public organizations, a rational and equitable tax system, and strong international economic cooperation.
