The main responsibility of the Ministry of Transport lies within the following areas: Roads, vehicles, railways, rapid transit systems (e.g. the Copenhagen metro), fixed links, harbours, ferry operations, aviation, airports and postal services. And national office buildings, building regulation, and regulation of the construction sector. The Minister of Transport is a member of the Government and has the overall responsibility for the Ministry. Thus, the Minister holds the administrative (managerial) as well as the parliamentary (political) responsibility for the execution of the tasks, including implementation of the decisions made by Folketinget (the Danish Parliament) concerning the Ministers field of responsibility.
