Mkuki na Nyota Publishers Ltd. (MNP) is an independent book publishing company based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and publishes educational, scholarly/trade, childrens and art books in Tanzania and Eastern Africa for worldwide distribution. Mkuki na Nyota Publishers vision is to be an independent, vibrant Tanzanian imprint publishing relevant, progressive, liberating, affordable and entertaining content. Established in 1981, Mkuki na Nyota Publishers emerged in response to the general absence of high quality, independent publishing in Tanzania. Our mission statement is to publish, Relevant Books, Affordable Books, and Beautiful Books. Through our work we aim to encourage and develop a culture of reading in Tanzania, as well as nurturing indigenous literature as a method of preserving and sharing stories.
