MMBL Money Transfer (Pvt) Ltd / Aitken Spence Group

MMBL Money Transfer (Pvt.) Ltd (MMTL) is a company licensed by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka to provide money transfer services in Sri Lanka. The company commenced operations in December 1995 as a part of Mountain Hawk Express (Pvt.) Ltd (MHEL) a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercantile Merchant Bank Ltd (MMBL). MMTL was incorporated in 2002 to take over the money transfer operations of MHEL. In October 2006, Aitken Spence PLC bought a 50% stake in the company together with management control through a joint venture with Mercantile Merchant Bank Ltd. Aitken Spence PLC, whose history dates back to 1868, is a Sri Lankan blue chip conglomerate with operations in South Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the Pacific.
