Mobile Education Partnerships

Mobile Education Partnerships is an award winning, specialist British educational charity. It has developed experience and expertise in teacher training with the displaced Burmese refugee and migrant communities on the Thai / Myanmar border. The charity was built in 2000 by teachers from the UK and Ireland and has developed its own unique way of training based on professional partnerships. Their trainers work alongside local teachers in the classroom helping with lesson preparation, demonstrating new skills and team teaching. Due to a long running civil war, over 140,000 refugees have fled from Myanmar to Thailand to find safety in seven refugee camps along the Thai / Myanmar border. The refugees come mainly from the Karen ethnic group, a people who have a longstanding link with the British, the two peoples being allies during World War II.
