Nesma ( which is a lead partner of TNC Consortium ) has been awarded the Contract for Procurement, Operation and Maintenance of Makkah Bus Project Phase 1. The duration of the Project is Design and Construction of the O&M facility in 18 months; followed by Operation and Maintenance for 8.5 years. The project involves Design and Construction of the Depot: which consists of 7 operation buildings & administration block; and Accommodation zone for 1400 staff. The Procurement Scope is a supply of 400 German buses (MAN) ( 240 standard buses of 12m and 160 articulated buses of 18m ) and supply of On-board & Off-board ITS ( Intelligent Transportation System ) equipment as per the latest technology. The On-board ITS equipment are: Voice Radio Communications, Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) / Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL), Automatic Passenger Counters (APC), Automated Annunciation System (AADS), Electronic Fare Payment System ( Validators ) and Onboard Cameras.
