Mont-de-Piete

Mont-de-Piete, also known as the Caisse Publique de Prets, is a public institution dependent on the City of Brussels. For more than 400 years, the core business of the Mont-de-Piete has been pawnbroking. The Mont-de-Piete has a de facto monopoly: based on the law of 30 April 1848, we are the only organisation authorised to provide pawnbroking services in Belgium. Our status as a public institution means that when you use our pawnbroking services, you can be sure that we are not looking to make a profit, but to serve the public interest. Our sole ambition is to provide access to micro-credit for everyone. In less than 30 minutes, you get a loan. Only 5% of the valuable items pawned go to public sale, so 95% of loans are repaid.
