Museum de Fundatie

Museum de Fundatie exhibits a large collection of old, modern and contemporary art. The works of art amassed by Dirk Hannema (1895-1984), the former director of Museum Boymans in Rotterdam, form the basis of the museum collection. In 1957, he donated these to the Hannema-de Stuers Fundatie (Foundation). In the course of time, Hannemas collection blended with other collections, including that of the Province of Overijssel, and was also expanded with numerous new acquisitions. In this way, a particular constellation has arisen, a kaleidoscope of art, with work by J.M.W. Turner, Vincent van Gogh, Francis Picabia, Piet Mondrian, among others. In addition to a selection from the museums own collection at both museum locations, temporary exhibitions are consistently on show, oriented to the general public as well as to specialist connoisseurs.
