The Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences was founded in February 23, 1934, as a result of the merging of the laboratories, which represented leading Russian scientific schools. In 1953, the Institute was named after Prof. N.D. Zelinsky who was the head of one of the Institute departments in 1936-1953. N.D.
