Nanyang Siang Pau

Nanyang Siang Pau (NSP), a Chinese daily newspaper, was founded on 6 September 1923 in Singapore by the late Mr. Tan Kah Kee, highly regarded in China as a hero to the overseas Chinese. In 1989, NSP became the first Chinese daily to be listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE). 1993 saw the acquisition by Nanyang Press, the parent company of NSP, of a full stake in China Press and Life Publishing to form the largest Chinese-language press group in Malaysia. With the advent of the information age, NSP took the lead in 1996 to launch its website, publishing electronic news on the Internet. 23 April 2008 marked the merger of Nanyang Press, Sin Chew Media and Ming Pao Enterprise to create Media Chinese International, the first entity dually listed in Malaysia and Hong Kong, as well as a world-leading Chinese-language press group.
