In 1991, Nichols Fleet Equipment got its start as a one-man sales operation for IMT cranes and tire-service equipment in Chattanooga, TN. After starting in the industry as a mechanic and later a salesman, President David Nichols went out on his own and began Nichols Fleet in 1991. In its infancy, Nichols Fleet operated out of a trailer that served as the sales office, and a nearby factory handled the installations.
