Norlha

Founded in 2007, Norlha is a Tibetan lifestyle brand and social enterprise based in the village of Ritoma on the Tibetan Plateau. Driven by the wish to provide livelihood opportunities in this remote area, Norlha links high value Yak fibre with intricate craftsmanship and contemporary design to implement sustainable development through training and long-term employment opportunities for local nomads. Today Norlha is a circular company, with approximately 100 local artisans in Ritoma, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Norlha has given the Yak a modern context, and has adopted the cultural and Buddhist values into its business model, serving as a cultural bridge between the community and the world at large. Norlha is a certified Benefit Corporation (Awarded B-Corp Best in World for Community 2021, 2022), has been awarded by the United Nations Development Programme and is officially recognised by the Chinese Government as a poverty alleviation company
