Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek

The Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek was founded in 1888, by the renowned brewing magnate Carl Jacobsen, and new wings were added in 1906 and 1996. The Collection of Antiquities includes world-class holdings of art and artefacts and presents 6000 years of art and history: the Ancient Near East, Ancient Egypt, Greece, Greek and Etruscan Italy and, finally, Rome. The museum also owns an important collection of paintings by the French Impressionists, with a large gallery containing works by Monet, Sisley, Degas, van Gogh, Cezanne and many others. The Glyptotek has one of the four existing complete sets of Degass bronze sculptures, and 45 works of art by Paul Gauguin. The Danish collection of 19th century art features works by such painters as Eckersberg, Kbke and Lundbye - three of the epochs most important artists.
