Operaen i Kristiansund

The Opera in Kristiansund is situated in the lovely coastal town of Kristiansund, in the middle of Norway. It has the oldest opera tradition in Norway, dating back to 1805. The town of Kristiansund is also well known for its klippfisk and bacalao traditions, its lovely harbour and its beautiful scenery, ranging from majestic mountains to the impressive coastal line. The Opera has its own Opera Choir, Sinfonietta, Symphony Orchestra and Dance- and Ballet School. We provide our audience with operas, operettas, musicals, ballets and concerts all year long. The Opera in Kristiansund has about 30 employees, but the backbone of our organisation is the fabolous effort put down by our volunteers. Each February the Opera puts on Operafestukene; two weeks filled with opera music in every corner of the town.
