OS ,,Vuk Karadzic Zitkovac

A four-year elementary school in Zitkovac didnt exist until 1911. Pupils attended school in Prcilovica. The amount of 8000 dinars was raised on the initiative and with the financial help of priest Laza Martinovic and Stanko Petrovic, a parliament member, as well as with the help of donation from residents of Zitkovac. The money was used to build a school and a flat for teachers. Thanks to an enormous commitment of Dragoljub Milosavljevic and Sava Milicevic, the supervisors on the construction, the building was finished as quickly as possible. The school in Zitkovac was opened on the 1st September 1911. The first teacher was Svetolik Jankovic. The school was open for almost a year and then it was closed due to the war with the Turks in 1912. The school was opened again in 1913. and closed in 1914. due to the World War I.
