Painshill 18th century landscape garden was created between 1738 and 1773, by the Hon. Charles Hamilton. Inspired by Renaissance art and his Grand Tours across Europe, he created a sequence of breath-taking and surprising vistas. The landscape forms a living work of art into which Hamilton placed follies for dramatic effect. Today, a registered charity, Painshill Park Trust was formed to restore and maintain the 18th century landscape garden for visitors across the world to come and enjoy. Painshill was granted Grade I listing and in 1998 the rare Europa Nostra Medal was awarded to Painshill for its exemplary restoration....
