Pakistan Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (PCSIR) was first established in 1953 at Karachi as an autonomous body registered under the Societies Act of 1860. The objective of the establishment of the Council was to initiate and promote scientific and industrial research towards the utilization of indigenous raw materials and development of industries based on them. In the year 1973, PCSIR was re-constituted vide an act of National Assembly.
