Paws, Inc., was founded in 1981 by cartoonist Jim Davis, as a creative house to support Garfield licensing. Today, the company, located in rural Indiana, handles not only the creative angle but also the business concerns of the corpulent kitty worldwide. Paws, Inc. does business in 111 countries and partners with dozens of agents in every major business center in the world. About 400 licensees work with Paws staff of account managers and business administrators to ensure quality control of the Garfield brand. Paws staff of artists, writers, designers, web designers, 3D artists, animators, and A/V engineers support the creativity that goes into each Garfield product, promotion, and entertainment venue.
