Our Story Petron in Malaysia traces its rich heritage to 1893 when it was first established as a Standard Vacuum Oil Company. Along the way, we have experienced many significant changes which included mergers and acquisitions, shaping us into who we are now. Today, we are Petron Malaysia, a part of Petron Corporation in the Philippines, an emerging and rapidly evolving Asian oil company. 1893 Standard Oil products were first sold in Peninsular Malaysia. 1921 Opening of the first service station in the capital city, Kuala Lumpur. 1961 Esso Standard Malaya was established. Construction started on Essos Port Dickson Refinery, a RM50-million project at the time. Standard Chemicals (Malaya) Ltd. was also established which was later renamed to Esso Standard Chemical (Malaya) Ltd. 1962 Formation of Esso Standard Malaya Ltd.
