Phelan Tucker Laws history dates back to 1906 when William Richard Hart graduated from the College of Law at The University of Iowa and started a law firm in downtown Iowa City. He was later joined by his son, W. R. Hart, Jr. In the 1950s, Louis Shulman, William Phelan, and William Tucker joined the practice and established Hart, Shulman, Phelan & Tucker. The firm expanded over the years, becoming known as Phelan, Tucker, Mullen, Walker, Tucker & Gelman, LLP, and moving to its current location on Market Street in 1984. Today, Phelan Tucker Law is comprised of about a dozen attorneys along with a dedicated team of paralegals, legal assistants, and others, who maintain the legacy of giving our clients the advantage they need to address their legal needs.
