Piltz, Williams, LaRosa & Company was first organized in 1937, as a branch of the New Orleans firm of Barton, Pilie, Hughes & Jones. In 1962, on Barton, Pilie, Hughes & Jones decision to merge with a national firm, acquisition of the branch was offered to Gerald Piltz and A.C. Simms.
