What if we started optimizing the opportunities that #Migration brings? Opportunities for economic growth, for innovative solutions, for more resilient societies. The what if question lies at the core of any experiment- be it scientific, social or artistic. In 2016 we started applying it to the refugee situation in Europe, looking to challenge a media-fed paradigm mostly considering refugees as an issue and a threat. We went to the field, sourcing newcomer talent and crafting pop-up environments in which migrants and refugees could come up with new solutions. Coming from the world of innovation, PLACE uses an evidence-based approach and a rigorous innovation process, to try out what works in boosting migrant-led innovation. The project has grown its impact quickly through the far-reaching PLACE collective, made up of public actors, the private sector, cultural actors, universities, and other civil society initiatives.
