PneumRx, a BTG International Group company is dedicated to developing innovative technologies in pulmonary medicine. Our flagship Interventional Pulmonology product is a minimally invasive device intended to improve exercise capacity, lung function and quality of life in patients with both heterogeneous and homogeneous emphysema, a kind of COPD. The Coils are made of a shape-memory material called Nitinol, which are then inserted into the diseased parts of the lung during a bronchoscopy procedure. When in place, the Coils are designed to gently regain their shape, gathering up loose, inelastic lung tissue and holding open surrounding airways. The Coils are not a new option for patients with severe emphysema; thousands of patients have been treated in Europe since 2008 and a growing number of countries currently offer the procedure.
