PNG Civil & Identity Registry

The PNG Civil & Identity Registry (abbreviation: PNG CIR, National Identity or NID; Email: helpdesk@pngcir.gov.pg is the identity document in use in Papua New Guinea. It is issued and compulsory for Papua New Guinea citizens and foreign citizens who are permanent residents of Papua New Guinea. Other than certain exempted persons, these people must register for an NID either upon becoming a permanent resident or, if below the age of 18, within one year of attaining that age. Papua New Guinea Civil & Identity Registry is an office mandated to record Birth, Adoptions, Marriage, Divorce, Death and issue National Identity Card Holders of an NID are responsible for the cards custody but are not required to carry the card on their person.
