Privanot

The DPO service of the Belgian notariat, first created in 2018 within the notarial institutions, took the form of an association, Privanot, in 2020. The notarial profession is by definition a key player in the protection of personal data. Since the early 2000s, when they created and managed the eNotariat platform, notarial institutions have put in place the appropriate security measures needed to guarantee the privacy of citizens in the context of data processing within the profession. Aware that the constant dematerialisation of the profession has given rise to new risks, and the duty of discretion and professional secrecy are no longer sufficient to guarantee the confidentiality of data processed by notaries, notarial institutions have entrusted Privanot with the task of implementing the necessary data protection compliance processes within the notarial profession.
