The plant in Bodenfelde is considered one of the most modern production facilities of its kind in Europe. With approx. 160 employees, it operates the distillation of approx. 100,000 t of wood per year in an environmentally friendly retort process on a production area of 180,000 sqm. The substances (acids, smoke aromas, tars) produced during distillation in addition to the charcoal are completely collected and the respective streams are processed into a wide range of industrial products for various end markets: - pharmaceuticals - dialysis products - food - paints & varnishes - fragrances We call these products our Natural Additives - the best natural ingredients made from beech wood, ready for immediate use! The charring process in the retort not only guarantees a particularly high carbon content of the charcoal produced, but at the same time acids and aromas are extracted from the untreated beech wood and processed on site.
