Providence Place- San Antonio

Founded in 1895, by the owner of a San Antonio Brothel, Madame Volino, who experienced a life-changing conversion and turned her home into a rescue mission, saving young women from San Antonios red light district. With help from the Methodist Church, she reinvented it in the early 1900s to provide adoption services to women facing an unplanned pregnancy. Providence Place transformed again in the mid 1970s and provided vocational education services to young adults with hearing disabilities.
