Public Interest Journalism Initiative

The Public Interest Journalism Initiative is an Australian-first: the only think tank in the country dedicated to researching the health and sustainability of public interest journalism in Australia. Public interest journalism is a public good; it is the accurate, reliable news and journalism at the heart of public discussion, diversity of voice, open justice, accountability and informed decision-making. It educates, inspires and brings together communities. We have two main objectives: 1. To mobilise an informed, broad-based and supportive constituency for public interest journalism 2. To research, support and promote existing and new mechanisms that will ensure a sound future for public interest journalism We envisage a sustainable and diverse public interest journalism landscape in Australia. Through our research, we help move Australia towards achieving this vision
