Rajendra Prasad Hall of Residence

Founded in 1954, one of the oldest halls of IIT Kharagpur and one of the largest in terms of size and boarder capacity, Rajendra Prasad Hall was named after Dr Rajendra Prasad the first president of the Republic of India. With Shreshthta Avam Dakshata as the motto of the hall, an RPian can boast of a proud heritage that is well known even outside of IIT Kharagpur. RP has shown the whole institute on multiple occasions how it is in a league of its own, winning all the 3 general championships - Sports and Games, Social and Cultural, and Technology multiple times. The staggering record of winning 26 out of 36 Illumination and Rangoli competitions is outdone by RPians year after year and always remains a thing worth beholding. This work of RPians has even been featured on Ripleys Believe it or not in 2010-2011.
