Restauracja Filharmonia

Restaurant in the Old City of Gdansk by the river Motlawa in the Philharmonic Hall. The location of the Philharmonic Restaurant is special for anyone who has ever seen it. Its marvellous neo-Gothic facade of red brick dates back to the end of the nineteenth century. The building, constructed in 1897-98 and developed until 1913, was initially a seat of the municipal power plant. Its facade delighted with the decorated rose windows, flanking towers and two donjons. However, the last months of the war in 1945 were ruthless to the building that suffered major damage. After restarting in August 1945, the power plant operated until its shut-down in 1996. In 1997, the building became the property of the Baltic Philharmonic and was successfully adopted for a music and congress centre. Opening the Philharmonic Restaurant marked the end of this work, as the historic building has been restored to its past glory.
