A family-run local (KZN) Chicken Farm The farm was bought by Mr. Anthony Apostolides (Snr) in 1944. His objective, when purchasing this farm, was to become a tomato farmer. In approximately 1950, Mr. Apostolides began farming chickens. He had both laying fowls and broilers. The broilers were housed in homemade cages and the layers in sheds where they ran on a deep litter system. During the rearing process, chicks are fed a diet of natural grains. No animal by product is fed to the birds, neither are any hormones used. Antibiotics are not used systemically (as a growth stimulant) but only for the welfare of the chickens. In the abattoirs further processing, all spices are natural; there is no use of MSG or any artificial flavours and colourants.
