RMIT Motorsport is the culmination of decades worth of experience between formerly-separate teams RMIT Racing and RMIT Electric Racing. Built on the success of these two teams, the dedicated RMIT students and support staff are set on proving the strength and performance of our fully-electric racing car fleet. Formed in 1999, RMIT Racing competed in Formula SAE globally throughout its run. Winning across the world from the United Kingdom to the United States. They would become the first-ever Australian team to win in the United Kindom in 2003. Along with taking the inaugural Formula Student wins at Silverstone. In 2008, RMIT Electric Racing would form. Their mission, proving Electric Formula Student cars not only were possible but could out-compete the dominant combustion-based alternatives.
