Sacred Heart College (Autonomous) Kochi is a grant-in aid private college affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala established in 1944. The College is managed by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), a Christian religious congregation founded by St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the first Christian saint of Kerala. The CMI Congregation manages a network of over 500 institutions in India and abroad, including more than 250 schools, about 50 arts and science colleges, 1 University, 1 Medical college, 5 Engineering College, 12 Technical colleges, 18 non-formal educational institutions, 17 cultural centres etc. The college offers 20 UG, 19 PG, 1 Integrated PG programmes and 7 Doctoral programmes. Sacred Heart was one among the pioneers to seek assessment and accreditation by NAAC and was accredited with Five-Star status in 2000.
