SAN DIEGO REFUGEE TUTORING

The vision of San Diego Refugee Tutoring (SDRT) is to achieve social justice through educational access for students of refugee background in City Heights. Our mission: SDRT provides holistic academic support through one-on-one tutoring, enrichment activities, and mentorship to students of refugee background in City Heights. Who we support: San Diego Refugee Tutoring works with students of refugee background mostly from Ibarra Elementary and their siblings (preschool, middle school, and high school). As our students grow and progress through the grades, we continue supporting them along their academic journeys. Our students have lived in the United States for anywhere from one month to 10+ years. They are Burmese/Karen/Karenni, Burundian, DR Congolese, Somali, Sudanese, Central African, Syrian, Haitian, and Afghan. Most of our students speak several languages other than English.
