Scudamores is the original Cambridge punting company and founder of pleasure punting to the College Backs and the Upper River in the early 20th Century. Jack Scudamore, the Cambridge born founder, set up his boatyard to build and hire boats on return from serving in the Boer War. As the fashion for punting began to emerge on the Thames he took the opportunity to introduce the new activity to Cambridge.
